About this performance

Hosted by Maestro Rowson, this special evening bridges past and present.  The concert features the same piece that opened our very first concert back in 1954: Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours, an elegant, ambitious work that announces the full sweep of the symphonic sound.

The evening also honours the remarkable legacy of former Music Director Metro Kozak, with a special performance of Bach’s concerto for two violins by Myron Kozak and Larysa Giesen (Kozak).

Throughout the season we are honouring the musicians, mentors and community leaders who got us here, and who continue to enrich cultural life in Greater Sudbury. The curated set of orchestral works in this programme not only include music from our original 1954 concert; they show off a variety of eras and styles and highlight the orchestra itself: Your extraordinary neighbours.

Myron has been playing violin since childhood and has studied with Mary and Metro Kozak and other violin teachers both in Canada and abroad.
