About this Performance

The musicians behind our Magical Symphony Tour return to bring you Abbey Road LIVE!

Hear this beloved album performed live, featuring some of Greater Sudbury’s finest rock and pop musicians alongside performers from the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.

For our 50th Season, we thrilled to present a new set of Sudbury-infused Beatles songs, with the rich instrumental textures that helped define the Beatles’ later sound.

Many years ago, the roots of this Beatles tribute project stemmed from a crazy plan to merge a rock band playing Beatles tunes in a bar with some local classical instrumental musicians.  This led to a performance of the album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in its entirety on Grey Street with the addition of a string quintet and five wind/brass instruments to fill in the instrumental components of the album. The Beatles’ producer, George Martin, brought that element of classical style composition to the fab four’s brilliant pop songs earning him the “Fifth Beatle” title.  Today, the group consists of all local musicians that are Beatles fans who bring these mostly ‘studio only’ songs to a live audience for the sheer joy of it.
