SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16 ∙ 2:30 & 7:00 PM
SUDBURY INDIE CINEMA

The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is commencing its concert season with the Marsalis String Quartet. The concert will be presented on Saturday October 16th, 2021 with concerts at both 2:30 pm and 7:00pm. The concert will be performed at Sudbury Indie Cinema.

The SSO String Quartet is composed of Beth Schneider-Gould (Concertmaster), Melissa Schaak (Principal 2nd Violin), Dobrochna Zubek (Principal Cello), and Caitlin Boyle (Viola).

The concert provides a jazz influenced repertoire with pieces from W. Bolcom and W. Marsalis, including Marsalis’ one and only string quartet. A special premiere of “Zubi Rag” written by Principal Cellist Dobrochna Zubek’s father, Andrzej Zubek, will be performed live for our audience members.

The composition, Zubi-Rag, written in 2020 by Andrzej Zubek, has been given to the SSO for the highly successful Fill the Score campaign. The Polish composer, Zubek, is the father of the SSO’s principal cellist Dobrochna Zubek. Of this piece, Doborchna Zubek has this to say, “imagine a folk band playing with swing and improvising just a tad to keep the two step Rag time going,” and adding, “it’s a lot of fun!”

Seating will be limited as we are accommodating social distancing guidelines. The SSO encourages audiences to get their tickets fast.
