Concertmaster
Beth Schneider-Gould (B.M. Indiana University Bloomington, M.M. University of Arizona) made her soloist debut at the age of 16 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She has performed throughout the United States including the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall, and has toured Europe with Sir George Solti and the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Beth has performed with a number of renowned artists, including Lynn Harrell and Yefim Bronfman, and has worked under conductors such as David Zinman, Neeme Jarvi, Simon Rattle, Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin and Christoph Dohnanyi. Beth has also performed in concert at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, the Sarasota Chamber Music Festival, the Meadowmount School of Music, ENCORE, Music ’98, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Hermopoulis International Guitar Festival, Greece, the Styrian Chamber Music Festival, Austria, the Guitar Foundation of America Conference, the Cortona Contemporary Chamber Music Festival and Soundscape-Pavia New Music festival in Italy. Beth has received many honors and awards such as ENCORE performance grant from the American Composers Forum, 2 Barlow Commissioning Grants, Arizona Commission on the Arts Grant, and a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Radio 2 Commissioning Grant, among others.
Her primary teachers have included Linda Cerone and Victor Danchenko at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Eugene Gratovich at University of Texas Austin, Conny Kiradjieff, Andreas Reiner of the Rosamunde String Quartet, Mark Rush at the University of Arizona, and Nelli Shkolnikova at Indiana University. Chamber Music coaches have included Henry Meyer from the Lasalle Quartet, Paul Katz from the Cleveland Quartet and Phillip Setzer from the Emerson Quartet.
As an artist living in the 21rst century, Beth embraces music by living composers and has commissioned over 100 works for Violin and Guitar Duo with her husband and Director of Guitar Studies at Cambrian College, Prof. Dr. Matthew Gould as Duo46, and mixed trios with Cello, Viola, Piano, Flute, Mandolin and Computer. Beth is a former member of the San Antonio Symphony. Beth considers her children Sophia and Max to be her finest achievement to date. More about her at www.duo46.com.
